how do you enable mods for the pc version of fallout 4? that is the question i'm going to answer in this video ♪the ink spots - "it's all over but the crying"♪ enabling modding in fallout 4 is actually very easy all you need to do is add a couple of lines to some configuration files these files are known as .ini files and they can be found in your documents folder; my games; fallout 4 the first file im going to edit, is fallout 4.prefs.ini now you will need a text editor, of course you can use notepad which comes with windows
i'm actually going to use notepad++ because i prefer it im just going to open it up, and im going to scroll down, until i find a section, marked "launcher" as you can see its right at the bottom for me. it will be in square brackets and im going to need to add a line that says: benablefileselection=1 i will leave a copy of this text down in the description of this video so you can cut and paste it if you already have this command there (benablefileselection=1) but it is set to 0. change it to 1, that is important
then ctrl+s to save that, of course save via the menu and close it down. and that is that file edited next, you're going to want to edit the falloutcustom.ini file and again i'm going to use notepad++ and you will need to add the following lines: "archive" in square brackets, followed by binvalidateolderfiles=1, and sresourcedatadirsfinal= i will leave a copy of these three lines in the description down below so you can copy them and paste them into this file. then you just save as you did before and you're done!
and that is it! you have now edited the required .ini files and you can begin to mod fallout 4. ♪the ink spots - "it's all over but the crying"♪ ending
